  • Current illness situation letter ~ February 6, 2025

    We are seeing an increase in respiratory illnesses, including colds, influenza A, and COVID, along with other gastrointestinal illnesses (norovirus).

    1. Flu- There is an increased number of influenza A cases being seen in Fulton County. The CDC provides a respiratory guidance page that links to multiple prevention strategy methods

    2. Norovirus outbreaks and GI symptoms are being seen in Fulton County

    4. Avian Influenza A (H5N1) continues to increase in dairy and poultry farms in the U.S. FCHD provided a farm flu clinic flyer that was sent to local farms encouraging opportunities to prevent the spread and potential alteration of the H5N1 strain.

  • Awareness of Pertussis Cases in Fulton County ~ October 25, 2024

    We have an increase in confirmed cases of Pertussis (whooping cough) in the county, however due to no linkage; there are no current outbreaks at this time. Along with other respiratory illnesses, we want to emphasize the importance of education and prevention in our community.

  • Respiratory Illness Guidance ~ October 11, 2024

    During the weekly local health department/ODH Epi update, ODH stated that there has been an increase in pneumonia outbreaks, especially Mycoplasma pneumoniae. They have asked for us to discuss with healthcare providers using testing panels with Mycoplasma detection.
