  • Fulton County Bat Tested Positive for Rabies

    August 16, 2023

    A bat found in Fulton County has tested positive for rabies, according to the Ohio Department of Health Laboratory in Columbus. The bat was found in the Delta area and was believed to have possible contact with cats on the property. There was no known human contact.

  • COVID-19 VACCINE DISTRIBUTION FOR PHASE 1B POPULATIONS TO BEGIN IN FULTON COUNTY

    In conjunction with Ohio’s statewide efforts to distribute COVID-19 vaccines to Ohioans in Phase 1B starting the week of January 19, Fulton County Health Department, Fulton County Health Center and Swanton Kroger Pharmacy will begin vaccinating individuals 80 and older.  Click HERE for full release.

    Communities Need to Work Together to Provide Support for Breastfeeding Mothers

    August is Breastfeeding Awareness Month in Ohio and August 1-7 is World Breastfeeding Week. This year’s theme, “Breastfeeding, Foundation of Life,” focuses on breastfeeding as a key to preventing hunger and malnutrition by guaranteeing food security for babies. Breastfeeding provides a low-cost way to feed babies which can help lower poverty.

  • Let’s celebrate!  Your Fulton County Health Department has been awarded National Accreditation!    

    Fulton County Health Department announced today that it has achieved national accreditation through the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB).  The national accreditation program works to improve and protect the health of the public by advancing and ultimately transforming the quality and performance of the nation’s state, local, tribal, and territorial public health departments.  Fulton County Health Department is one of 223 health departments nationwide that have thus far achieved accreditation through PHAB since the organization launched in 2011.

    August is designated as Breastfeeding Awareness Month. This year’s

    theme in Ohio is Breastfeeding-It’s a TEAM thing! It’s aimed to promote the support person’s role in successful breastfeeding. Research shows that the more support a mom receives, the more likely she is to give breastfeeding a try and the more likely she is to keep it going even if things get tough.

    The Fulton County Partners for Health released the 2016 Fulton County Health Status Assessment. The Public Release of the 2016 Fulton County Health Status Assessment took place on December 14, 2016 with youth professionals, schools, law enforcement, religious leaders, parents, health care professionals, substance treatment professionals, area businesses and county officials in attendance.

    When temperatures rise Cooling Centers throughout the county are available to provide respite to individuals who do not have air conditioning. Persons who are at particular risk of complications from heat exposure include the elderly and young children.
